Part 1: What does your service learning site do? I will be doing my volunteer At the Grandview Housing Authority City of Everett. I site provides safe and affordable quality housing for Everett’s diverse low income families in need.
Part 2 with whom will I be working? The population I will be working with while doing my volunteer time will be with diversity of everything . I will be working with all different age groups , some may be kids in elementary and some may be in high school. Boys and girls. I have so far been with little girls and boys between the ages of 5- 10 helping with math homework and helping them understand it, going threw step by step. It brought me joy know that I helped one in need of getting that one page done. I help several and playing games with some of the little girls their some hand game .
Part 3 What will you experience during your service ? The smell of plain old pine sol the smell of a house being cleaned while I organized the books before the kids arrive time. It was clear to me that the kids would be happy to arrive to a nice clean study , play area. It was three and their still no kids around. I was wondering maybe their not coming today since the sun was out. Another volunteer response was “your right?” Maybe . A little after three o’clock kids started coming and pounding on the side door asking to come in . I opened the door and introduced my self . Ask a little boy if he needed any help with math homework . His response was yes please . My experience which was my first day was awesome I was glade to have help a few of the kids and played games and to m win candy after getting the answer right .
Part 4 Why did You select this service project ? What do you hope to learn from your service ? I selected this service cause I love know I could probably make a difference even if it was one kid that I made a difference in. It looked interesting to me because I wasn’t just going to be around young kids but of all ages and that meant a lot to me , not helping a little one but maybe making a difference in someone that is older . I love to be around kids even at times they can be a little jumpy we was all their at one point of our lives and now I could be their for them at this time. Theirs things in life we don’t forget and im sure that these kids will not forget that one person that helped them in a had situation that they did not understand. Or helping them read more made them something better they thought they could be .
